Kevin O'Malley Kevin O'Malley

Kevin is the President and Founder of Inspection Training Associates (ITA). Kevin has been President of the California Real Estate Inspection Association (CREIA) and a member of the American Society of Home Inspectors (ASHI®) Board of Directors. Kevin received his "Authorization to Teach" home inspections from the Bureau of Private Postsecondary and Vocational Education in 1989. He has authored numerous books, video tapes, home inspection curricula and the ITA "Matrix" Inspection Report System, which is currently used by over 7000 companies across the United States and Canada. Kevin was awarded ASHI's ® President's Award in 1993 in appreciation of his services to the association. He was awarded CREIA�s highest award, The John Daly Award, in 1997 for his long-standing commitment, contribution and leadership to the association. Kevin is a licensed general contractor and has personally performed over 6000 inspections.




Michael Casey Michael Casey

Past National President, American Society of Home Inspectors (ASHI)

Michael Casey is the managing director of ITA's Manassas, Virginia facility. Michael is the former owner of Michael Casey & Associates in San Diego, is a past president of the California Real Estate Inspection Association (1994/1995) and past president of the American Society of Home Inspectors (2002). He has performed over 8000 home inspections in the last eighteen years. Michael is a CREIA Certified Professional Inspector (#0001) and New Construction Inspection Specialist, ASHI Certified Member (#2186), State of Virginia Certified Home Inspector and is multi- Code-certified by the ICC. He is also a licensed general, plumbing and mechanical contractor in several states. Michael has authored numerous inspection related books (many of the ITA course books), including co-authoring the CodeCheck® (Taunton Press) series, and has taught home inspection, commercial inspection, new construction and expert witness practice throughout North America. He has his teaching certificate and/or approval from numerous states in construction and home inspection. A member of ASHI and CREIA for more than seventeen years and past board member of both, he has been honored many times by both organizations for outstanding long term service to the real estate inspection profession.




Mitch Sudy

Mitch Sudy, MCI

Mitch is the Vice President of Operations for ITA and a Master CREIA Inspector. Mitch is a member of the CREIA Board of Directors for 2004 - 2005 and over the years has served on many CREIA committees including the Residential and Commercial Standards of Practice. He also currently serves as the chairman of the CREIA exam committee. Mitch was recognized as the CREIA Inspector of the Year in 2001. He was President of San Diego CREIA Chapter for two years, and served as a Regional Director in 2002-03. He holds membership in CREIA, ICBO, IAEI and ASHI. Mitch is the former owner of Allquest Home Inspections, a San Diego based inspection firm.




Dana Carter
Director of Education

Dana Carter is the Director of Education and an instructor for Inspection Training Associates (ITA), as well as being the Managing Instructor for ITA in Southern California. She is a California Real Estate Inspection Association (CREIA) Certified Home Inspector and the former owner of D & D Property Inspection Service. Dana has served as Treasurer of the San Diego Chapter of CREIA and is currently on CREIA's State Exam Committee. She has been interviewed as a subject matter expert on mold management by Readers Digest Magazine and has been a longtime proponent for increasing the role of women in the Home Inspection Industry. Her background is in residential and commercial construction management and she is a frequent speaker on topics of relevance within the Home Inspection and Real Estate Communities.




Don Norman
Managing Instructor, ITA Illinois & Florida

Don Norman is the owner of HouseMaster Home Inspection Service in St. Louis, Missouri and has inspected nearly 9000 homes over the last 19 years. He has written continuing education training classes for real estate agents and has written and taught classes nationally for the National Association of Independent Fee Appraisers (NAIFA). He assisted in the creation of the National Home Inspection Exam (NHIE) and was a charter Board member for the Examination Board of Professional Home Inspectors (EBPHI). Don has appeared in numerous print articles, on television and radio highlighting the importance of having a home inspection. He has chaired several national committees for the American Society of Home Inspectors (ASHI) and co-authored ASHI’s Home Inspection Training Curriculum. He is currently the 2004 President Elect of the American Society of Home Inspectors (ASHI).




Douglas HansenStephen Gladstone
Managing Instructor, ITA Connecticut


Stephen Gladstone has been inspecting homes since 1983 and is the President of Stonehollow Fine Home Inspections a multi-inspector home inspection and environmental testing company. He is a past President of both the Southern New England and Coastal CT. Chapters of ASHI®, in CT. He is ASHI’s National President for 2004 and is the Managing Instructor and Campus Director of our Connecticut school ITA-CT in West Redding CT. He has written many articles for local papers, has been nationally featured in Reader's Digest and The Wall Street Journal, is a contributing author for the ASHI® Reporter, and has his own Saturday morning radio show "Around the House with Steve Gladstone" on WSTC and WNLK radio.



Douglas Hansen
Managing Instructor, ITA N. California & Nevada

Douglas Hansen was one of the founders of the home inspection business in California, and operated a successful inspection company for 16 years before becoming a full time author and educator. He is the managing instructor at the Oakland ITA facility, and a nationally renowned lecturer on a wide variety of building and real estate topics. He is a licensed contractor and is code certified as a building, plumbing, mechanical, and electrical inspector. He is the author of Electrical Inspection of Existing Dwellings, and the co-author of the popular Code Check series of field inspection guides, including Code Check, Code Check Electrical, Code Check Building, Code Check HVAC, and Code Check Plumbing. He has served on several committees and the Board of Directors of ASHI and CREIA, and is the contributing editor of the magazine for the California Real Estate Inspection Association. For several years, he was on the faculty of the College of San Mateo Building Inspection Technology program.



Richard Whitsitt
Managing Instructor, ITA Texas

Richard is the Managing Instructor for ITA in Texas. Richard was the founder of HomeSpectors Inc. and has been a FHA Rehab 203k Consultant since 1995 #D913, FHA final Inspector since 1995 #2844, Professional Real Estate Inspector since 1996 TREC #4162, Certified Applicator Structural Pest Control Board Texas since 1997 SPCB #39339T and ICC Certified Residential Building Inspector #5230855-B1. Before starting his inspection career Richard owned and operated a home building and remodeling company in Dallas Texas. He also spent several years in the commercial construction industries working on high profile project like the 1902 Interurban Railway Station renovation in downtown Plano, now a museum. His love for construction and the inspection industry led him to become the Building Standards Commission Chairman for the City of Plano Texas in 1997/2000, The President of Texas Association of Real Estate Inspectors North Texas Chapter 1999/2002, and The State Membership Director Place 4 for the Texas Association of Real Estate Inspectors 2002/2004. He has been nickname "The Coach" because he believes in the brotherhood of Inspectors sharing their knowledge for the good of all.




Mark Cramer
ITA Instructor

Mark is the lead instructor at ITA's Tampa, Florida school. He has thousands of hours experience training home inspectors in classroom and seminar settings. Mark holds certifications from ICC as a Building Code Inspector and Standard Coastal Construction Inspector. Mark has appeared in numerous interviews on TV, radio and in print media including NBC's Dateline in a story on new construction defects. A long time ASHI member, he's held numerous local and National positions within ASHI, serving as chair of several national committees, National Secretary, Vice President, and National President of ASHI in the year 2000. He's received ASHI's Monohan Award and President's Award for outstanding service to the home inspection profession. Mark Cramer is a FL licensed contractor and operates a building and home inspection firm serving the Tampa Bay area. He also serves as an expert witness in legal cases involving construction and home inspection.




Joe ZaabadickJoe Zaabadick
ITA Instructor

Joe Zaabadick has 40 years of experience in the Gas Industry, the first 35 years with the Southern California Gas Company. Joe has more than twenty-two years of experience as a professional trainer, training approximately three thousand Gas Company employees and conducting over fifteen hundred training seminars in the public sector. These were attended by more than thirty thousand people interested in training or information in the safe utilization of natural gas.

As a private consultant, Joe has been called on to do presentations and seminars for organizations throughout the country (Williams Comfort Products, PHCC-Plumbing Heating Cooling Contractors, So. Calif. Air Conditioner Distr., CREIA-California Real Estate Inspection Assoc., OREIA-Oregon Real Estate Inspection Assoc., ASHI-American Society of Home Inspectors, WIN-World Inspection Network). Invited to speak in many cities in both Northern and Southern California, Oregon, Nevada, Arizona, New Jersey and Florida as well as Canada, Joe has been asked back again and again to give his demonstrations, which is a clear indication to the value placed on his presentations.




Bob Davidson
ITA Instructor

Bob is owner of DavidsonInspection.com and has been performing residential and commercial inspections for 11 years. Having provided over 4000 fee paid commercial and residential inspections in Southern California, his business also involves New Construction Inspections, Course of Construction Inspections, Intrusive Investigations and Expert Witness services. He is current President of the San Diego Chapter of CREIA (California Real Estate Inspection Association) following four years as an officer in the organization. His background includes many years as a Commercial Construction Superintendent and a General Contractor, building shopping centers, residential housing and apartment projects.




Michael Hart
ITA Instructor

Michael has over 25 years experience in building inspection and code enforcement. He is a Certified Structural Building Inspector with the International Code Council, and a Superior Court Certified Expert Witness regarding construction defects. Michael has performed several thousand inspections of residential and commercial properties and currently owns and operates Real Property Inspection Service, providing professional residential and commercial inspection services and consultation. He is the Mentor Program Director and an Inspector Member of the San Diego Chapter of the California Real Estate Inspection Association.




Mark Wing
ITA Instructor

Mr. Wing is a former building contractor and current president of The Wing Inspection Group, Inc., through which he has performed over 13,000 fee-paid inspections. He has been involved with the construction of approximately 30 single family residences and over 1,100 units of apartments. He has received over 240 hours of classroom training as a building inspector and completed several ITA courses. Mr. Wing is a Cooperating Member of International Code Council (member # 5149502), and is currently enrolled in ICC's certification program for building inspectors and code officials. He is also recognized as a Certified Construction Inspector and Certified Construction Project Manager by the Association of Construction Inspectors. Mr. Wing has been a pioneer in the field of single component certifications, specializing in HUD/FHA 203B, 203K and FmHA Rural Development Housing certifications. He developed ITA's 2 Day HUD/FHA course, which focuses on guidelines set by HUD/FHA for property evaluation, and is ITA's lead instructor for this course.




Peter Drenan
ITA Instructor

Peter began inspecting homes in 1994 and has performed over four thousand home inspections. His company also does building consulting work, expert witness work, and new construction, EIFS, chimney and water quality inspections throughout a multi-state region. Peter also does facility evaluations and inspections for the US Navy at bases throughout the country, and performs emergency disaster evaluations for FEMA - the Federal Emergency Management Agency, in the aftermath of natural disasters. Peter has a degree in Architecture from NC State University, and has worked as a construction manager, project manager, designer, and builder, including leading large building programs for the Commonwealth of Virginia.



Jack Fehlandt
ITA Instructor

Jack Fehlandt is the lead instructor at ITA's Glen Ellyn, Illinois campus. Jack began inspecting homes in 1992 throughout the six county Chicagoland area. A graduate of ITA's 2 week Residential Inspection Course, Jack inspected in excess of 3,600 homes before selling his business in 2003. Currently semi-retired, Jack still consults on home inspections. He also serves on State of Illinois Home Inspector Advisory Board and carries the 3rd license number issued in the state of Illinois. Jack is a member of the American Society of Home Inspectors (ASHI) and an active member of the Great Lakes Chapter of ASHI and the Northern Illinois Chapter of ASHI. Prior to home inspections Jack served 18 years in local municipal government as an elected and appointed official including on the city council and as Mayor.




Monty Veenendaal
ITA Instructor

Monty Veenendaal has been inspecting homes and commercial building since 1996 after his retirement of 5 years of teaching at Waukegan Township High School, Waukegan, IL Building Trades Program, and 31 years as the Coordinator/Professor and Professor Emeritus of the Construction Technology Department at Triton College, River Grove, IL. He joined the ITA Illinois teaching staff as an instructor in 2004 and is also the safety inspector for the interior of Ringling Brothers and Barnum and Bailey Circus Train Cars. He is a licensed home inspector in the state of Illinois and a member of the American Society of Home Inspectors. He has experience as a soils, concrete and asphalt quality control technician. He is a journeyman carpenter and operated his own general contracting business for a period of five years. He is a member of the Triton College Construction Technology Advisory Committee and a member of the Habitat for Humanity Site Selection Committee for the Fox Valley Chapter. He helped develop the Associated Builders and Contractors Inc. craft training and apprenticeship training curricula "Wheels of Learning". He was also a facilitator for the Associated General Contractors of America Supervisory Training Program.
