Kaplan Washington Instructors

Duane Roundy
Lead Kaplan Instructor

Duane is a co-owner of AAA Pest Control Inc. and its inspection division, AAA Inspection Services. He is also a past Vice President of the Washington State Pest Control Association and has participated in several of its committees. He serves on a Washington State Department of Agriculture advisory board which is responsible for the rewriting of the pest inspection portion of the Washington Administrative Code and publishing of a Structural Pest Inspection Manual. He is involved in two WSPCA Committees: he is currently the Chairman of the Home Inspection Committee and is a member of the Wood Destroying Organism Committee. Duane’s 1993 graduation from Kaplan changed the direction for AAA’s Inspection Division from pest inspection to a combination of pest and home inspections. With over 13,000 home and pest inspections over the past 20 years, his new focus is to share his experience with those who are developing theirs.

Paul Neis

Paul has owned and operated Harbor Home Inspections since 1997, earning a reputation as the local “bulldog” inspector. He is a member of the American Society of Home Inspectors (member # 201816) and current treasurer the Western Washington chapter. He is also a Washington State licensed Structural Pest Inspector (license # 54154). Before entering the home inspection business, he had a 22-year career in construction as a carpenter, timber framer, general contractor, and designer on projects ranging from small residential remodels to the Boeing 777 facility. He enjoys the opportunity to pass his experience along to those who can benefit from it.

MaryGail (Sully) Sullivan
Kaplan Instructor

“Telling is not Teaching” is MaryGail (Sully) Sullivan’s motto concerning education. She taught High School and specialized in working with juvenile delinquents, so, keeping educational material interesting is very important to her. After leaving teaching MaryGail went into the building trades as a Cabinetmaker, Custom Furniture Builder, and then General Contractor for 14 years. As her body aged, home inspection was the next logical step. “I get to teach people about the house they are considering for purchase—what could be more fun?” Well, training Home Inspectors, that’s what. Teaching for ITA/Kaplan, running her very successful Sullivan Inspection Service Co., being involved with her ASHI chapter, ASHI national, and helping raise 5 children has helped keep her life very interesting and exciting for this died-in-the-wool Green Bay Packer fan. Sully is one of a few traveling instructors for Kaplan/ITA and while she lives in Portland, OR she often contributes her talents to the Seattle, San Marcos, Oakland, Phoenix, and Denver schools.
