Steps To Becoming A Licensed Home Inspector in Texas
         It’s Easy with Kaplan Professional Schools!


Step 1: Choose Kaplan Professional Schools, endorsed by Kaplan Professional Schools. Complete 448 hours of core real estate inspection courses - Refer to “How to Choose Which Course Is Best for You”

Step 2: File the Professional Inspector License Application form with the Texas Real Estate Commission (TREC). A filing fee of $60 in the form of a single check or money order must be submitted at the time of filing.

Step 3: Schedule your license examination with PSI after you receive the Candidate Information Brochure (CIB). The CIB is mailed to you within 48 hours once your application has been received, processed and accepted. It provides information for making reservations to take the exam.

Step 4: Be Prepared! Take the Exam Prep Course at Kaplan Professional Schools.

Step 5: Take the State license examination. The exam must be passed within 6 months from the date of the application for a license is filed with TREC. If a license applicant fails the exam three consecutive times, the applicant may not apply for reexamination or submit a new license application with TREC for six months from the date of the last failed exam.

Step 6: Learn to Earn! Complete any two Business Enhancement Courses at Kaplan Professional Schools to satisfy the mandatory 16 hours of Continuing Education every year.
