1) What are the financial benefits of the program?

General Liability and Errors and Omissions insurance is now available to new home inspectors at exceptional low rates. A typical annual basis Errors and Omissions claims-made policy with general liability can cost a new inspector upwards of $3,000 and more! Our new program allows an inspector to obtain a $125,000 per occurrence/$250,000 aggregate one year general liability policy along with the same limit E&O for ten inspections, including report forms and contracts ($210 value) for only $748! Even at 50 inspections at a full cost of $2628, less the value 50 inspection reports and contracts ($1,050) the cost for insurance is only $1,578, much less than any standard annual policy. 2) What if I get busy and will do more than 100 inspections this year?

You may convert to a standard annual policy at any time. Contact us for further details.

3) Why is the program not available in my state?

Because we are in the process of obtaining insurance commissioner approval in every state. Some states take longer than others. In a few states (such as TN), the minimum per occurrence coverage limit required by law for home inspectors is more than available through this program. In those states Allen Insurance Group can assist with a reasonably priced annual policy.

4) Does the effective date of the insurance begin on the date of application?

It can, or you can delay effective date of coverage up to 45 days from the day of application.

5) What if I already have Kaplan report forms, can I use those?

Yes. You must, however, purchase the insurance and the IIR (Insured Inspection Report) contracts.

6) How long can I participate in this program?

For one year. After that an annual policy must be purchased. You will be contacted 90-days prior to the expiration of the program with annual policy options.

7) Must I purchase the General Liability (GL) each time I buy a set of 10 insured inspection reports and contracts?

No. The GL insurance is a one-time purchase and covers you for a year.

8) What is GL insurance?

General Liability insurance covers you in the event you accidentally damage property during an inspection or someone other than you is injured by your actions at the inspection. There is also coverage for your corporation if you are incorporated. You must pay the deductible of $250 should there be a claim.

9) What is E&O insurance?

Errors and Omissions insurance covers you in the event there is a claim against you or your company for negligence (or if you damage the property or cause someone to be injured as a result of the rendering of your professional services). That is a claim that you “missed something” during the inspection. The insurance company will provide claims assistance and an attorney to defend you. You must pay the deductible of $1,500 should there be a claim.

This is only a brief description of the program and coverage available under the Policy. The Policy contains limitations and exclusions. Full details of coverage are contained in the Policy. If there are any conflicts between this document and the Policy, the Policy shall govern.
